Fiesta de la Candeleria (All over Spain)

First Sunday of February

Clowns dressed as Farmers spend the day entertaining people around Madrid by bringing out  “vaquillas” ( young Bull) made of wood with two horns attached. Matadors then “Fight” the bulls and in an entertaining and funny way. At the end of the day Sangria is drunk on the plaza.

Madrid Fusión Gastrofestival

An opportunity to sample some fine and interesting foods on different locations around Madrid. 15 days of food from the 19th of January till the 3rd of February … you still have a couple of days to get out there and delight your taste buds.

More than 300 establishments are participating in the Festival which can be located when you see a Fusión Gastrofestival outside of a restaurant.

Madrid Carnival 2013

8th to the 17th of February, all over Madrid.

Evenets to see include the famous “Burying of the Sardine” which is an old tradition. People dress up in their Sunday best for this event. Then it’s all about fun and food, drinking and entertainment in  the form of Fancy dress and Patry time.
