Madrid Demo with Banner

At Midnight last night,14th of November 2012 the General Strike started here in Madrid.
Demonstrators took to the streets at various locations around Madrid which caused clashes with the Spanish Police.
Public services are functioning at a minimal service level although some of the Spanish Press are playing it down and reporting that services are running without much of a hitch.
Airlines across Europe have been affected so Barajas Airport in Madrid experienced disruptions to schedules.
The first clashes between Police and Picketers began at the Madrid Bus depot as demonstrators attempted to stop buses leaving the bus depot.

Other Spanish cities reported disruptions and clashes between police and Demonstrators. Where workers and unemployed are protesting against the Government’s Austerity cuts which is being blamed for the rising unemployment and lack of inovative measures in Spain.
Various reports of arrests and injuries from last nights clashes indicate that between 17 and 25 arrests were made with 12-15 injured being treated amongst both demonstrators and police in Madrid.
